Starbucks Calorie Calculator

Build any hot, iced, or blended drink. See calories, sugar, and macros by size, milk, and syrup pumps.

A Starbucks drink runs from about 5 to 500+ calories. A Grande latte with 2% milk is roughly 190 kcal. Each syrup pump adds about 20 kcal and 5 g sugar. Whip is another 80–110 kcal.

What Is a Starbucks Calorie Calculator?

A Starbucks calorie calculator estimates calories, sugar, protein, fat, and carbs for the drink you actually order — size, milk, syrup pumps, and toppings — not only the named menu item. Two “Caramel Macchiatos” can sit 100+ calories apart once milk and extra pumps change.

This page is independent and unofficial. Pair it with the calorie deficit calculator or TDEE calculator if the drink has to fit a daily budget. For caffeine timing, use the caffeine calculator.

How Many Calories Are in Popular Starbucks Drinks?

Grande (16 oz), standard recipe, 2% milk where the drink uses milk. Whip is included on mocha, pumpkin spice, and hot chocolate. Numbers are unofficial estimates from public Starbucks nutrition — stores and seasonal recipes move them.

Typical Grande nutrition (unofficial). Caffeine from espresso shots or brew, not decaf.
Drink Calories Sugar Protein Caffeine
Brewed coffee / Pike Place50 g1 g310 mg
Cold brew50 g0 g205 mg
Caffè Americano150 g1 g225 mg
Caffè Latte (2%)19018 g13 g150 mg
Caramel Macchiato25033 g10 g150 mg
Caffè Mocha (with whip)37035 g14 g175 mg
Pumpkin Spice Latte (with whip)39050 g14 g150 mg
Chai Tea Latte24042 g8 g95 mg
Matcha Tea Latte24032 g12 g80 mg
Hot chocolate (with whip)37037 g14 g25 mg
Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew11014 g2 g185 mg

A drink that “sounds light” (chai, matcha, sweet cream cold brew) can still be a snack. A drink that sounds heavy (Americano) is often just espresso and water.

How Do Starbucks Cup Sizes Work?

Tall is the small. There is no “small / medium / large” on the board. Hot Venti is 20 oz; iced Venti is 24 oz because ice takes space. Trenta is cold-only and not on every drink.

US cup sizes. Short is hot only; Trenta is cold only (brewed coffee, iced tea, Refreshers).
Size Volume Typical syrup pumps Notes
Short8 oz2Hot only; ask if it is not on the menu
Tall12 oz3The “small”
Grande16 oz4Default size in most nutrition charts
Venti (hot)20 oz5More milk and pumps than Grande
Venti (iced)24 oz6Larger cup; extra shot on some espresso drinks
Trenta30 oz7Cold drinks only

Upsizing a latte is not only more coffee. You get more milk and more syrup. That is why Grande → Venti on a flavored drink can add 80–150 calories, not 20.

How Do Milk Swaps Change Calories?

Milk is most of a latte. Espresso itself is about 5–10 calories a shot. The cup is the dairy (or alt-milk) plus syrup.

Typical Grande Caffè Latte by milk (unofficial). Recipes vary by country and year.
Milk Calories Vs 2%
Almondmilk100About 90 kcal less
Nonfat / skim130About 60 kcal less
Coconutmilk130Similar to nonfat; more fat
Soy160Slightly under 2%
2%190Default on most hot drinks
Oatmilk220Often similar or higher — not a cut
Whole250About 60 kcal more
Protein-boosted milk~230+2% plus whey — more protein and more calories

Oatmilk is not a low-calorie swap. Almondmilk usually is. Protein milk (rolled out in 2025 in some markets) is 2% with added whey, not ultra-filtered Fairlife-style milk — expect extra calories with the extra protein.

How Many Calories Does a Pump of Syrup Add?

Regular flavored syrup is about 20 calories and 5 g of sugar per pump. Sauces are heavier. Sugar-free syrup is near 0 calories but still a flavor add-in.

Per-pump estimates used by most unofficial Starbucks calculators
Add-in Calories Sugar
Vanilla / caramel / classic / hazelnut syrup205 g
Mocha sauce255 g
Honey blend257 g
White mocha sauce5010 g
Sugar-free syrup00 g
Whipped cream80–110~1 g
Cold foam (standard)40–703–8 g
Caramel or mocha drizzle153 g

A Grande with 4 vanilla pumps is about 80 calories of syrup before milk. Ask for 2 pumps and you cut that in half. White mocha is the expensive pump — 4 pumps is ~200 calories of sauce alone.

How Do Frappuccinos Compare to Refreshers?

Cold drinks split into two worlds. Refreshers are fruit base plus ice (and sometimes coconutmilk or lemonade). Frappuccinos are blended milk, syrup, and often whip or chips. The gap on a Grande is often 200–350 calories.

Grande cold drinks, standard recipe (unofficial). Frappuccinos include typical whip where the menu serves it.
Drink Calories Sugar Caffeine
Strawberry Açaí Refresher9020 g45 mg
Mango Dragonfruit Refresher9021 g70 mg
Pink Drink14025 g45 mg
Coffee Frappuccino23045 g95 mg
Caramel Frappuccino38054 g90 mg
Java Chip Frappuccino47060 g110 mg
Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino48055 g90 mg

Five Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccinos in a week is about 2,400 calories — more than a full extra day of food for many people. Five Refreshers is about 450.

What Are the Lowest-Calorie Starbucks Drinks?

If the goal is caffeine with almost no food calories:

  • Brewed coffee or cold brew — about 5 calories
  • Americano — about 15 calories (Grande)
  • Espresso / doppio — about 5–10 calories
  • Unsweetened iced tea — about 0 calories
  • Refresher (no coconutmilk, no lemonade) — about 80–90 calories

A splash of milk in an Americano is usually cheaper than a full latte. “Skinny” on the menu usually means nonfat milk and sugar-free syrup — still confirm pumps.

How Can I Cut Calories Without Changing the Drink?

You do not have to switch to black coffee. These are the swaps that move the number most:

Typical savings on a Grande custom drink
Swap Saves about
Skip whipped cream80–110 kcal
2 fewer syrup pumps40 kcal, 10 g sugar
2% → nonfat~60 kcal
2% → almondmilk~90 kcal
Grande → Tall~50–120 kcal
Frappuccino → Refresher200–350 kcal

Test the standard drink in the calculator, then flip one option. The first change that is worth it is usually fewer pumps or no whip — you still get the same drink name.

How Much Caffeine Is in a Starbucks Drink?

Calories and caffeine do not move together. An Americano is 15 calories and about 225 mg caffeine (Grande, three shots). A Caramel Frappuccino can be 380 calories and under 100 mg.

Brewed coffee is often the highest caffeine per cup (Grande Pike Place ~310 mg). One espresso shot is about 75 mg at Starbucks (their shots run a bit above a classic 63 mg). Blonde shots are usually higher than signature. For a daily cap and bedtime leftover, use the caffeine calculator — FDA’s usual adult limit is 400 mg.

How Accurate Is This Calculator?

It is an estimate, not the in-store label. Three reasons numbers drift:

  • Named drinks vs build-your-own. A menu Pumpkin Spice Latte already accounts for less milk when sauce and foam go in. If you add “pumpkin sauce + whip” on a plain latte here, milk is not auto-reduced, so the total can run high.
  • Pours vary. Milk, cold foam, and whip are not weighed at the bar. A 20-calorie gap is rounding; a 80-calorie gap is usually a different build.
  • Menus move. Seasonal recipes, protein milk, and country formulas change. We are not affiliated with Starbucks and do not get official API data.

For the closest match, pick the named drink when it exists, then change only the options you actually say at the register.

How Does a Daily Starbucks Drink Fit a Calorie Deficit?

A Grande Caramel Macchiato every weekday is about 1,250 calories a week (250 × 5). A daily Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino is closer to 3,360 a week. On a 1,500-calorie day, one 400-calorie drink is more than a meal.

If weight loss is the goal, decide the drink budget first — many people keep coffee under 150–200 calories so food still fits. Check the leftover with the calorie deficit calculator, then put the rest of the day on a personalized meal plan.

Key Takeaways

  • A Grande 2% latte is about 190 kcal. Brewed coffee or an Americano is 5–15 kcal.
  • Each regular syrup pump is about 20 kcal and 5 g sugar. White mocha is ~50 kcal a pump.
  • Whip adds 80–110 kcal. Almondmilk usually cuts a latte; oatmilk usually does not.
  • Tall is 12 oz (the small). Grande is 16 oz. Iced Venti is 24 oz.
  • A Grande Frappuccino can be 200–350 kcal above a Refresher.
